Thistlekeeping thistlewood farm: Quick notes

Random thoughts on a flower planting Saturday:

1. If you’ve ever wondered if you should move to Texas? You should SEE our yard sales.

Y’all.

I found THE CUTEST lamp for the new office. It looks like something right out of a Brady Bunch episode.

2. I wore a high pony last week. It was amazing. If you aren’t already, you need to add a high pony to your hair rotation. A quick high pony tip? I actually make two ponytails—one on the top and one underneath. Then I pull the bottom pony through the top pony (is this sounding as confusing as it sounds to me when I type it). I also use this hair texturizing powder to make it stay up, too.

Then I use this hair wax to smooth the hair on the sides.

3. Have you ever used hair wax before? It’s so much gentler than hairspray and prevents breakage. I use it to smooth down hair and prevent flyaways.

You can see the hair wax I use here.

4. Has anyone watched The Count of Monte Cristo on PBS? It’s SO GOOD. This is my husband’s favorite book, and he said this series is the closest to the book out of all the versions he’s watched.

5. It was an amazing week on the blog. We talked about:

  • how to make a butterfly wreath
  • this amazing vintage find I discovered
  • 11 things I wish I had bought sooner
  • these paint colors for the kitchen

Spring is here.

And now?

Let’s see all the awesome stuff I found for us this week.

a handmade tulip craft made of pink tissue paper and green paper stands on a wooden table, with a faux brown bulb base. in the background are white pitchers with flowers and a decorative ceramic bunny.

Look at these paper tulips.

Aren’t they the cutest?

And guess what they are made from? Coffee filters.

You can see the how-to here.

various framed and unframed pressed flowers and leaves are arranged on a wooden surface. some pieces use pages from books as backgrounds, and the frames are in different colors and styles.

I love a pressed flower project.

And now is the perfect time for them with all the spring blooms.

You can see all the pressed flower projects here.

a wooden mantel displays vintage books, glass bottles with pink flowers, a small white dish, and a gold-framed mirror reflecting the arrangement in a softly lit room.

You know how much I love a vintage find.

Like these vintage bottles.

The challenge? Knowing how to decorate with them.

You can see all the ideas here.

a thank you card and pen rest on a table with floral-patterned fabric squares and yellow flowers, creating a warm, inviting scene.

I’ve thought of making my own envelopes before.

But never from fabric.

What a clever idea.

You can see the DIY here.

And in random news:

And this beautifully written post. We all need more of this.

It spoke to my heart.

Have you ever ordered from Quince before?

You can see more about the clothing brand here.

So many different people recommended the brand to me, and the price point is so good, so I tried them.

If you are looking for a super HIGH QUALITY knit pant—this is the ONE. It comes in two different lengths and six different colors. I ordered the shorter one (of course). The pants hold in my tummy and just feel super expensive.

seven women wearing light-colored, casual summer dresses and outfits in neutral, blue, and soft floral tones, standing and posing against a pale, vertically striped background.

Look at these dresses I found for Mother’s Day or graduation.

I have a couple of these, and the quality is next level.

Everything I’ve ever ordered from Quince has been an amazing value for the price.

  • pin-striped long dress
  • linen light blue dress
  • this pink chambray dress
  • white linen dress
  • khaki linen skirt
  • dolman sweater
  • linen shirt dress
  • blue and white dress

a welcoming home entrance featuring a black front door with white trim, a painted concrete patio with stylish wicker chairs, and decorative plants, conveying an inviting and trendy porch design.

And one more for the road

If you have concrete?

You can make it look like this.

Here’s the simple DIY.

Happy random Saturday to you
