You’ve seen a few sneak peeks in this space, and we’re slowly helping our sweet clients put their home together with all the glorious details… so stay tuned! Today, I’m sharing their finished bath and a few of our best tips for creating a primary bath.
This house expanded so much that the photos of their old home {below} are now a part of their guest bath and bedroom. But this is the primary bathroom they were living with before they started their renovation. We say the new space is quite the upgrade.
Their space is now open and bright, and we love the changes that have made their home a beautiful, cohesive whole.
They now have ample space, with double vanities, a closet beyond these doors, and plenty of room for this luxurious bath-and-shower combo. The ideal space! Start by thinking through what you really need for the space and plan accordingly. It can be really easy to get all caught up in pretty photos on Pinterest. But it all comes down to a highly functional space. List your priorities. Is it a bathtub where you can escape and unwind? What are you going for in the overall feel of the space? In most rooms, I love finding something that inspires and build around that… just make sure that everything works cohesively in planning a bathroom since it has to work so hard for you.

You never know what you’ll uncover in a renovation. So plan ahead for plumbing that needs to be replaced, along with electrical work. Usually, you’re replacing the old with the new. That means there may be a few surprises underneath what’s already there. Old pipes and wiring that need to be brought up to code for safety and wellness… along with some old water damage. It’s more than just making a space pretty or functional. You want it done right.
3. Best Tips for Creating a Primary Bath: Lighting.
I’ll say this until I’m blue in the face, but great lighting in a space is a game-changer. That means planning ahead of time with intentional design. Natural lighting is always a priority, whenever possible, in a primary bath. While not always possible, it was a big deal for this space. These fresh windows from Window World gave their entire home a new lease on life. They add beautiful pops of interest and layer fresh sunlight in the most functional ways within this bathroom.
Once with window placement was planned, the additional {and very important} lighting elements came into play.
We paired these Kichler Chennai Mirror {one of my personal favorites for all things getting ready} with these Ali Wall Sconces for a touch of classic design. They all give a nod to a glamourous finish. Bonus: They’re all dimmable.
Like jewelry to a perfect outfit, the Pallas chandelier from Kichler was a finishing touch. Recessed lighting also came into play.

If you’ve been with us for a while, then you know we’re not afraid of color and fun touches. What I love about this bath is its timeless, layered feel. Make something in your primary bath that leans toward the traditional, so it feels up to date yet timeless. That all comes down to the finishing pieces, like the faucet details and the classic wall tile. The lines are classic. There’s something about this space that just feels right, because it was intentionally designed to last for years to come.
5. Best Tips for Creating a Primary Bath: Add Warmth
With color and finishes. While this bathroom has a nice neutral vibe, we were also mindful to add hints of warmth through the vanity design, finishes, lighting, and more. It all comes down to layering in subtle ways to add contrast and interest with wise, timeless selections.
