Something from April and whats ahead for May

Ahead for may. A brief context to set expectations.

Ahead for may: Quick notes

I have long forgotten the name of this rose.  It’s been in my fence border along the drive way for probably two decades.

I never thought the bush particularly beautiful until this year when it came into its own.

When the buds develop they’re a beautiful yellow. As they open they maintain a little yellow turning pure white when fully open.

Update on What’s Ahead in the Next Post

It not been easy gaining my strength back from being inside due to unusual-for-our-area severe cold in January and February and the injury I sustained to my hip last July.

Between the pain and injury  -walking was/is difficult at best.

I had thought about not doing a “see my garden” post because of:

(1) the amount of time it takes,

(2) I’m so far behind in planting

(3) and things are not developed/beautiful/etc. as I would like to have them in May.

What Changed My Mind

Yesterday was one of the worse days I’ve had. The pain was horrific. Nonetheless I was outside 4 hours.

As many of you probably know, pain definitely influences how we think.

I knew in that condition I would never be able to get things back to the way they should be after the disaster that took place last July and August in my garden. (I’ll clarify that in a future post.)

But I do have to eat — and the garden makes that happen.

Today May 18

Oddly, but happily, today was one of the best days I’ve had in a long, long time!  Totally free from pain. Still slow but not having the pain made a HUGE difference!!!

Was out side 5 hours — and. although still slow as molasses, I actually managed to get some things done.

My thinking process without the pain was a complete turn around.

Bottom Line

Thus, in thinking about a “see my garden post” I realized that seeing what I’ve NOT been able to do as well as what I have been able to do (although not timely) might encourage many to know that it’s still possible to grow food even during hard circumstances.

Difficult times come to us all in one form or the other. In spite of that –I recall (and many of you do as well – never underestimate the power of a little!

Final Thought

If you will be patient and bear with me, I’ll get the post up with pictures and explanations as soon as I can.

Usually these “see my garden” posts are favorites.  This one may not be a favorite, but hopefully you will be  encouraged by it when you experience difficulties – or when things don’t proceed as you had wanted.

I am by far one of the most blessed people on the internet to have such wonderful readers. You are so important to me and helping you in any way I can from my experiences is my pleasure.

Wishing you a great growing season and all the best of everything.

Theresa
