The office reveal, or is it the sunroom? Whatever you call it, it’s done!! I’m sharing all the details today!
Hello friends!
I’m sharing our new room reveal today. And clearly, it’s still having an identity crisis. lol We call it the office because our desks are in there, so I guess that is what has stuck. However, it ended up becoming more than that with the cozy little corner couch, TV, and coffee/tea bar. So, the “office” just doesn’t feel right. Especially with how sunny and bright it is. It feels like the “sunroom” that just happens to have our desks in it!! ha!
Whatever it’s called. It’s done. Basically, anyway. There are a few more things we want to do, but overall, it’s done. And what a complete JOY it is to work in and hang out in here. So beautifully sunny, with the best view. Wildlife, like deer, squirrels, and birds, and nothing but woods behind us.
This was a major labor of love and something my husband had wanted to do for many years. He worked on it for about a year, then enlisted his cousin’s help to finish it up. They did all the main work, and I did all the caulking and painting. That’s always my job in our projects!! lol
As a refresher, this room used to be our screened porch. It looked like this when we moved in many years ago.
And then it looked like this.

It’s crazy for my brain to see these! I lived it, and it’s hard for me to even think I’m sitting in the same room as I type this.

As another reminder, our old office was one of our upstairs bedrooms. Remember it?? Here is the post that I shared when I gave it a makeover some years back.

It was a nice space, but constantly going up and down the stairs is no fun. lol Plus, my view out that window was our front yard and road. Yes, I got to see all the “comings and goings” in the neighborhood, haha, but I much prefer this backside view.
That old office room is going to be my “workout” room. I will definitely share that too once we get it all put together. Think it’ll help me get those workouts in more often?? Maybe walk on the treadmill?? Haha!! I say it will…we’ll see, won’t we?! Either way, I’m super excited to have a dedicated space for that soon.
Alright, let’s take a look!
Let’s start right here.

This is “real life”. Their beds are here, and we (and they) love it just like this.
For photos, however, I’ll move them so you can see everything.

Ryder is so confused, lol. Piper hopped up into her other usual spot, though.
Here it is from inside the main area of the house. We leave the French doors open and push them all the way back. We do use them when we need quiet in the office or when watching TV in here while someone is watching in the adjacent room.

We just love how bright, open, and airy it is in here.

This is my desk. My husband has the other one.
My sweet little printable framed. (In this post here)

And one of my tiny trinket dishes from the “DIY Air Dry Clay” post.
A photo of my sweet Dad and me. I came across it one day, looking at some old photos. Just a super random shot, but very meaningful.

It was taken right here in this house, in the kitchen. But that was several years before the blog began.
My new view while I work. Such a happy space.

And here is the other side.

We hadn’t originally planned to have a TV in this room, but later decided to. I’m SO glad we did! It is also a Frame TV like the one in our living room. When we watch it, we just rotate it around since it’s on an adjustable wall mount. We do plan to put an actual frame around it at some point. (It will be attached to the TV, so when you move it to watch, it will stay attached.)
The copier is coming down, and I think we are setting it on top of this new cabinet I got. We needed a filing cabinet and a place for the copier, so this one fit that bill.

In the old office, we had shelves with books. I’m planning to put a few floating shelves on this skinny wall above the filing cabinet to display books and other decor. Maybe 3 shelves. I’ll share that once I do.
Aren’t the little shelves on the back of the desk so cool??

I love this feature, and it’s one of the main reasons I went with these desks. Since this is a room in our main living area, I wanted it to be a little more decorative, rather than just looking at the backs of two desks. I can’t believe I found these. They’re perfect!
Not only that, they have cubbies! Who doesn’t love extra storage space??

I keep things we need at the coffee bar in them.

Speaking of the coffee bar. We moved it in here since we changed the other room it was in.

It is set up mostly the same with a few little changes.
We all absolutely enjoy this space. Coffee, tea, so many options. All of my favorite things!

Love these two mugs I found at Hobby Lobby last year. And how perfect are they, also being the exact same colors as my blog/brand colors??
You might recognize some of these things from my “Things I’m Loving” posts today. (If you missed them, you can see them here and here.)

For the windows, we’ve decided to install tall white curtain panels on each side of each set. They can easily be pulled closed at night, etc. I’m pretty sure we will get them at IKEA, but I’ll update when we do.

Also, I have considered something in the space over this door, but I just don’t know what. I’m in no hurry, so when it comes to me, or when I come across it, I’ll know. Do you have any ideas??
Finding this cozy corner couch was the best thing ever, too. I had originally planned two small armchairs with a small round table between them. This is so much better.

Found the perfect-sized ottoman for in here, too.

For this back wall, I decided to use a board-and-batten style and paint it white.

And this is the reason why. I just could not see this aqua dresser up against the “Oyster Bay” paint of the walls. I didn’t want to paint the dresser another color because I love it, so I went with white walls on the back instead. However, I didn’t think that would look right, so I decided to add board-and-batten, and I’m so glad we did. I love the added interest and details it adds.

We raised the ceiling, and it got shiplap.

And skylights! So much glorious sunshine. YES to that.

I’ve never been happier in my life than the day I was finished caulking and painting all of this mess!! haha!!
No, just kidding, but sort of not. That was a lot. I’m just happy to have it done.
It was a long time coming, this one. But here we are. It made a huge change to our home. And amazing the light it brings into the rest of the house. Not to mention how much more open our home feels with this new room off of our main living area. We both just love it!
