Azam flowers pakistan: a concise orientation before we get practical.
Azam flowers pakistan: Quick notes
Happy Monday GPODers!
We’ve been “On the Road” at lot lately, as several Garden Photo of the Day contributors shared photos of the fabulous public gardens they have visited since last fall to get a taste of plant life during the down season, or to experience garden scenes that have long been on their bucket list. Today we’re “On the Road” in a different way, as we explore some gorgeous blooms from the home garden of Azam Ajmal in Islamabad, Pakistan. Islamabad enjoys a humid subtropical climate, which allows these gorgeous flowers to emerge much earlier in the season than most regions of North America.
Soon our cool-season annuals in North America will be making way for summer bloomers like petunia—and Azam has given us some great inspiration with a bold Picotee variety. This looks to be the Dreams™ Burgundy Picotee petunia (Petunia ‘PAS329180’, annual), and this photo showcases the deep veining on the petals as well as the signature bright white edging.
Azam’s “love arch” allows this narrow foundation bed to expand by growing vertical, and the variety of bright pink blooms underneath really sell that “love” theme.
While roses typically don’t like too much humidity, Azam has found some varieties that are thriving despite the heat that can soar in Islamabad. Maurice Utrillo® roses (Rosa ‘Maurice Utrillo’, Zones 5–9) is a incredibly vibrant variety with red, white, and yellow stripes, but is also easy to grow and disease resistant.
Another perfect rose bloom, this one, as Azam said, is “pretty in white.”
Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful blooms with us, Azam! This color is much-needed for those of us in North America who are still waiting for flowers to fully emerge.
We have started to get a trickle of spring garden photos coming in via our submission form and to the GPOD inbox, and I’m already overjoyed with the color and new plant life that contributors are experiencing so far this season. If you have spring plants and garden scenes you’re enjoying right now, please consider sharing some photos with the blog. Follow the directions below to submit your photos to Garden Photo of the Day!
