Looking for front porch decor ideas to decorate your porch for spring? Here are seven ways to update your porch this season.

Have you ever heard of the term glimmer?

It’s a word that I never knew that I needed until I discovered what it meant.

And then?

I realized I had been waiting for it my whole life.

A glimmer is defined as “a small moment of joy or peace that arises from appreciating everyday experiences.”

See what I mean?

I feel like my life has been ONE BIG LONG GLIMMER.

Can we discuss the glimmers in this picture alone?

  1. I got my hair highlighted to celebrate daylight savings (I thought it might be easier to get up in the morning if my hair were cute).
  2. I made my own doormat for the front porch and it turned out cuter than I thought.
  3. It stopped raining yesterday and it was the perfect sunny afternoon.
  4. I just finished decorating the front porch and I get to share it with all of you.

Four glimmers.

Four amazing things.

And we are just getting started.

Want to take a tour of the front porch with a whole lot more glimmers?

Let’s GO.

a woman in a bright pink dress stands on a porch, smiling as she holds a basket of pink flowers and greenery. the porch has black-and-white decor, a bench, plants, and striped rugs.

a decorative green topiary shaped like a bunny sits in a white planter with leafy vines. in front, a gray pot holds pink flowers and greenery. the scene is set against a white house with a mailbox and monogram on the planter.

1. Add hydrangeas

The best glimmer of all.

See these hydrangeas? They are faux hydrangeas.

And just when life couldn’t get any better? This bunch of hydrangeas actually comes in a hanging basket with all this greenery.

I just put the entire basket in an urn, but when I add real flowers to the front porch later in April, I’m going to hang these on the back porch.

You can see the hanging basket of hydrangeas here.

2. These monogrammed planter boxes

Everytime I share the front porch people ask me where the planter boxes are from.

In amazing news?

We made them.

You can see how we made the planter boxes here.

You can see how we added the monograms here.

You can see how we changed up the monogram here.

a doormat with the words "welcome the woods" sits on a gray porch near a white planter with greenery and a gray pot of pink flowers. the porch floor has light gray tiles.

3. This monogrammed doormat

Here’s another project that I made for the front porch.

I’m going to share the how-to later this week, but it was SO EASY.

And the mat only cost $7.

You should have seen the glimmer I felt when it turned out even better than I thought.

a black metal bench sits on a porch, decorated with spotted black-and-white pillows, one featuring the letters “kwd.” a potted green plant and window with black shutters are nearby.

4. Boxwood with ivy

I found these boxwood spheres and they look like they stepped out of the Downton Abbey gardens.

Seriously.

And to look them even more classic, I tucked ivy strands underneath the boxwood spheres. This ivy looks SO realistic. I added two pieces of ivy to each urn and draped them over the side.

a black metal bench with black and white polka dot pillows, one featuring a monogram. a potted green plant sits in the foreground, and a striped rug is on the gray tile floor. windows and shutters are in the background.

two white throw pillows with black polka dot patterns rest on a dark wooden bench. one pillow features a circular design with the initials "kwd" in bold black letters.

5. This painted monogrammed pillow

We’ve already discussed these pillow covers, but in case you missed it?

I painted the monogram on these (after a big mistake).

And the mistake turned into these amazing painted pillows.

You can see the painted monogram pillow project here.

a white porch is decorated with green topiary shaped like bunnies in planters, a wreath on the black door, two pots of pink flowers, and a doormat that says “welcome to the porch.”.

// boxwood wreath // hanging ivy // hydrangea basket // bunny topiary //

white fabric with blue floral patterns features ornate blue and green embroidered initials "hw" on the left and a blue and green embroidered vase with a bow on the right. the background is softly blurred.

6. Add a wreath sash

I showed this wreath sash to my mother the other day and she’d never heard of a wreath sash before.

So just in case you’ve never heard of a wreath sash before, it’s so simple that it’s genius.

It’s just a sash that you knot on a wreath and let the ends hang. It’s so much easier than tying a bow (and even cuter).

A glimmer tied around a wreath.

a green topiary shaped like a bunny sits in a white planter with trailing ivy, next to a gray planter filled with pink flowers, outside a white house with black shutters and a black mailbox.

7. These bunny topiaries

Aren’t these the cutest?

I mean, you know how much I love a topiary.

But a topiary that looks like a bunny is so next level. I added them to the planters and tucked the ivy into the planter at the base of the topiary.

You can see bunny topiaries here.

woman with long blonde hair wearing a bright red dress and matching shoes stands on a porch holding a large bouquet of pink flowers. the porch is decorated with black and white accents and a bench.

// hydrangea basket //

And there you have it.

All the porch decor.

All the glimmers.

It’s the little moments of joy in an ordinary day that make life worth the living.

Thanks for being my glimmer today.

PS I loaded everything into my Amazon storefront if you want to pin this and come back whenever you are working on your porch.
