I actually pressed pause on this post.

Another organizing post, I thought? Is anyone even interested in organizing right now?

Are we all organized out?

Should I even write it?

Sigh.

Truth?

I go from being the most organized person on the planet. To forgetting where I put my keys.

So posts like this are helpful to me  (and I hope they are helpful to you, too).

Especially in January.

But to keep it organizing-interesting?

Today I’m sharing unique, creative, amazing solutions that help find a place for everything and keep everything in its place.

Here are 10 unexpected organizing ideas you may not have thought of before.

Unexpected organizing ideas — a quick note to anchor this piece for readers.

1. This cable management box

I’m going to start with this one because it’s sitting next to me on the table as I type this.

I use a lot of cords for charging, and this keeps everything so much cuter.

There are notches on both sides where the cords come out, and the rest of the cords are all inside the basket. It just keeps everything neat and organized.

It also works perfectly on the kitchen counter, too.

You can see this cable management box here.

2. Add mini self-adhesive casters under an appliance

The set comes with self-adhesive pads that you can stick on in minutes.

I added one to each of the corners of the coffee maker.

Here’s what all four of the casters on the bottom of my coffee maker look like.

They are GOLD. You just pull out the coffee maker, and it slides out now without damaging the countertop, and it’s so much easier to move. They would work perfectly on anything that you want to move around—I think I’m going to add them to the bottom of the baskets on the shelf, too.

You can see the self-adhesive casters here.

3. These spinnable earring organizers

I literally feel like I’m earring shopping with these earring organizers.

They automatically extend your earring wardrobe because you can see everything with a spin.

The organizers are four-sided and have hooks to hang the earrings from. With earrings with backs, I don’t take the time to thread them through the holes. Instead, I just add them to the hooks with the space between the earring and the back.

I used to hang up my sweaters, but they’d get so stretched out, so I looked for a solution to add the sweaters to the shelves in an organized way. I discovered this sweater folder to fold the sweaters and then I organize them according to color.

I organized the shelves inside the closet with these amazing sweater/top organizers.

They are kind of game-changers.

I can see them all at a glance now, and it made so much more space in the closet for other hanging clothes.

5. Add an extra drawer to the fridge

This is MY FAVORITE organizer in the fridge.

These are extra drawers that are installed under your shelves in the fridge.

I’ve had these for over a year and I LOVE them. They have tons of compartments if you want to keep sauces and condiments organized or you can remove the dividers and store extra supplies. I use them to store leftovers and extra dips.

6. Add expandable drawer organizers

My challenge with my closet is that I have extra large drawers.

And large drawers?

They have a tendency to get jumbled.

So I found these expandable drawer organizers on Amazon.

They come in a set of four in different colors (I ordered them in white) and they stretch between the sides of the drawer and snap into place.

They really do stay in place and they create compartments for socks and pajamas and other items.

You can see them here.

7. These containers to organize all the bathroom “freshy” products

I’ve showed y’all this area before. It’s a closet in the hallway with the linen closet on the other side.

We had bins with random letters on them that used to mean something, but now they were kind of organized, but the bins were really too big to keep everything in place. Stuff ended up getting jumbled up inside and then I recently added some things that I had cleaned out from the bedroom when we redid it.

It was a lot.

I tried a couple of things and landed with these stackable clear organizers. Here’s why I am all about them:

  1. They are stackable. I actually just ordered another set because I have more space to stack more.
  2. They are portable. You can organize them by task. For example, I have my nail stuff in one organizer and my self-tanner stuff in another.
  3. They are clear. I LOVE that they are clear so I can see everything at a glance.
  4. They are hard plastic (BPA free) and so sturdy.
  5. They are flexible. You can adjust how you use them in the space depending on the measurements of your shelves.

You can see it here.

8. Expandable spice rack

I know you may be raising your eyebrows at me right now.

Spices? KariAnne?

In amazing, wonderful, incredible news, my children love to cook and bake. (I’m not sure where they got the gene from).

Denton usually cooks now when he’s home and he’s SUPER into spices so I had to break out the set and get all organized.  So I have tons of spices in the house and they were taking over the kitchen cabinet. The thing about spices is that it’s hard to see them in the cabinet.

That’s why I LOVE my expandable spice riser.

You can see my spice jar set here (it comes with the labels, too).

Also—here’s the expandable wood spice rack as well.

9. Use these movable plastic drawer organizers

Until recently, my drawers looked like the picture above.

But then I found these drawer organizers.

The answer was so easy it was brilliant.

Why not use individual plastic organizers that I could move around to accommodate everything I had in the drawer?

No more searching for scissors.

No more digging through drawers to find a pencil

No more disorganization with all my drawer mess.

These organizers come in a set with rubber stick-on feet to hold them in place. You can see the drawer organizers here.

10. Put matching sets of sheets in bins

This is the key to keeping my linen closet organized.

I already had these bins from another closet, but I found these and these that are SUPER similar here.

The key is that you want them to be sturdy with lids.

Upstairs, we have three queen/full-size beds and one twin trundle bed. So in each tote, I put a queen-sized fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and matching pillowcases.

One extra set in each bin for each bed.

Then I put an extra set of queen-sized sheets and extra pillowcases in an additional tote.

Usually, I just wash the sheets on the bed and put them right back on. But if I need an extra set of sheets for the bed? I just pull down the tote and open it up, and everything is there smelling great (you can add in a little sachet for each tote) and dust-free.

I cannot tell you how much I love organizers like these.

They look like Grace Kelly on Oscar night.

Absolutely beautiful.

That wasn’t hard.

And remember, organizing is fun.

Especially when you do it with friends. 🙂
