There are so many hair removal gadgets that claim to easily remove pet hair, but I’ve only found one that ticks all the boxes….ease, cost and results. I also have a great hack for dog and cat hair removal that you probably already have at home!
We are HUGE animal lovers! With three cats and a dog, we have to keep up with the pet hair on the upholstery and floors regularly.
I swear I could vacuum five times a day and still not get it all!Â
I’ve tried all kinds of pet hair removal tools over the years. The sticky tape lint rollers work OK but they don’t get everything, and I feel like I end up using a third of the roller for one piece of furniture.
But we don’t always get to that as much as we should, so cleaning up the loose hair and and fur is constant.Â
Our problem areas are usually the back cushions where both the dog and cats like to perch, and the upholstery on the sides of the couches and chairs where they rub up against the furniture.Â
Here are my favorite fur removal methods, with the BEST saved as last…
1. Rubber glove methodÂ
I shared this first hack for removing pet fur years ago. Our sweet little Peanut would sit on this chair on the lookout most days:

Beyond the constant cushion smooshing, the dog hair was all over, especially down the back of the seat behind the back cushion:

My favorite trick is the simplest! I use a rubber glove:Â

It works just as is, but I find it works even better when a little wet (just be sure that’s OK for your fabric). You just use your hand to wipe the hair into piles:

The rubber gloves easily grab the pet fur and allow you to grab it in bigger clumps.
It works SO well and is free if you have a rubber glove laying around.Â
What I love is that you can really use your fingers to grab along the edges and detail areas of furniture and cushions to get all of the pet hair.Â
2. Chom Chom hair remover

It has the textured fabric that grabs the fur and lint (we had paddle lint brushes with this fabric when I was a kid). But the difference with this one is is has those rubber strips (that act like a squeegee, similar to the gloves) that really help to grab ALL of the hair.Â
You operate it like a vacuum — just run it back and forth across the upholstery and it grabs everything right up!Â
It’s also super convenient that the fur and hair stays inside the contraption. You just push a little button on the lint trap and the lid pops up so you can remove everything:Â
This fur remover is great because there’s no hair flying all over as you use it!
I prefer this tool to my rubber gloves because I don’t have to gather up all of the excess fur as I work. Â
This Chom tool is especially great for getting around the sides of the couch and chairs:

It’s so much faster than using your hands or a traditional lint remover!Â
3. Pet fur remover glove
We’ve use the Chom for years and still like it, but there was one small annoyance that became a big one. The design of the handle has the latch for the fur compartment right where you put your thumb while using it.Â
So it would pop open constantly and the fur would come out. Also, it’s too bulky to use in between cushions.Â
Recently, I was sucked into videos I kept seeing online. It seemed too good to be true — they were using a glove contraption that would gather up tons of fur with ease. I decided to try it out to see it worked as well as they showed.Â

When I tell you I went through our entire house gathering fur off of every soft surface in our house…I was shocked at how well this thing worked!Â
The direction of the fibers makes it so the fur rolls up nicely in the middle of the glove as you’re working:Â

This is by far the easiest fur removal “tool” I’ve found.Â
It’s a little gross to see how much the vacuum doesn’t pick up — but also incredibly satisfying. This is what I got just from this little stool:Â

I had used this on the top of the bench a couple of days ago. This time I used it on the sides and in the crevices as well.Â
This glove (like the rubber glove) is ideal for getting in between cushions and is very easy to manipulate around both hard corners and soft ones.Â
The cats love these upholstered dining chairs…they cuddle up on the cushions often:Â

These fur removal gloves (they come in a set of two) makes the quickest work of removing the fur:Â
It’s also not as laborious as the Chom — you just use a light swiping motion like you’re cleaning off a surface. I’ll probably be using this daily, if only to see how much fur I can clean up. 😂
I’ve tested it out on upholstered furniture, ottomans, benches, fabric poufs — even blankets, pillows and rugs. I’ve even used the mitt (with super satisfying results) on our carpeted stairs.Â
These pet hair remover methods are great options when you don’t want to haul out the vacuum cleaner. And sometimes I find they work better to really get all of the hair off of furniture.Â
